          Born in Llallpur in the part of Punjab now in Pakistan, Lyallpuri came to Mumbai in the late 1940s to make a career in Hindi cinema.

          Renowned Urdu poet and lyricist Jaswant Rai Sharma, known to the world by his pen name Naqsh Lyallpuri, died here on Sunday, a family friend said.

          He was 89.

          He had been ailing for some time and breathed his last around 11 a.m.

          He is a jaadugar – a magician of sorts – who can cast a spell and mesmerize his beloved.
